Privacy Policy

The short version

Your CV is used only to write your tailored CV and cover letter. We don't keep a copy of it on our servers.
We store your email, your credit balance and your payment records so your account works.
Payments go through Paystack. We never see or store your card details.
We don't sell your data, show ads or use tracking cookies.
You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

This policy explains how Retailor ("Retailor", "we", "us") handles your information when you use our website and app at this address. If anything here is unclear, email us at info@retailoryourcv.com.

1. What we collect

Information	Why we need it
Email address (and your name, if you sign in with Google)	To create your account, sign you in and contact you about it.
Credit balance and usage: credits added, used and refunded, and the job title of each tailoring	To run the credit system, give back credits when something fails, and answer questions about your balance.
Payment records: pack bought, amount, currency, country, date and Paystack reference	To add your credits, handle refunds and keep accounting records.
Referral code, if you joined through someone's link or code	To give you and the person who referred you your rewards. Referrers and partners only see totals, never your name, email or CV.
Approximate country, worked out from your internet connection	To show prices for your region.
Technical information such as IP address and error messages	To keep the service running, limit abuse and fix problems. Our error logs never include the text of your CV.

2. Your CV and job ads

When you tailor a CV, the text of your CV, the job ad and your settings are sent securely to our server, and from there to our AI provider to write your tailored CV and cover letter.

We don't store your CV or job ad on our servers. They're processed to produce your result and then discarded.
Our AI provider (OpenAI or Anthropic) processes the text under its business terms. Under those terms, data sent this way isn't used to train its models by default. It may be kept for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring.
Your results stay in your browser. Your tailored CVs, cover letters and drafts are saved on your own device so you can come back to them (see Your browser).
Retailor removes personal details such as date of birth, state of origin and marital status from tailored CVs, and cover letters never include your contact details.

3. How we use your information

To provide Retailor: tailoring CVs, writing cover letters and applying your adjustments.
To manage your account, credits and payments.
To prevent fraud and abuse, for example by limiting how many requests one person can make.
To answer your emails and support requests.
To meet legal and accounting obligations.

We use your information because it's needed to provide the service you asked for, to meet legal obligations, or for our legitimate interest in keeping Retailor secure and working. We don't use it for advertising and we don't sell it.

We use a small number of trusted providers to run Retailor. They only get what they need to do their job:

Vercel	Hosts the website and runs our server.
Supabase	Stores accounts, credit balances and payment records, and sends sign-in emails.
Paystack	Processes payments. Your card details go directly to Paystack, never to us.
OpenAI or Anthropic	The AI that writes your tailored CV and cover letter.
Google	Google sign-in (if you choose it) and the fonts used on this website.

Some of these providers process data outside Nigeria, including in the United States and Europe. We only use providers that protect data with appropriate safeguards. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or Retailor.

5. How long we keep it

CVs and job ads: not stored on our servers.
Account and credit records: for as long as you have an account. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it within 30 days.
Payment records: kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require, even after your account is deleted.
Technical logs: kept for a short period by our hosting provider, then deleted automatically.

6. Your browser (cookies and local storage)

Retailor uses your browser's storage to keep you signed in and to save your drafts, tailored CVs and settings on your device. This data stays on your device and isn't sent to us unless you tailor or adjust a CV. You can remove it at any time by signing out and clearing your browser's site data.

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023 and, for people in the UK and EU, the GDPR, you can ask us to:

give you a copy of the information we hold about you,
correct information that's wrong,
delete your account and information,
stop or limit certain uses of your information, or
send your information to you in a portable format.

Email info@retailoryourcv.com from the address on your account and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or to your local data protection authority.

8. Security

All connections to Retailor are encrypted (HTTPS). Our AI and payment keys are kept on our server and never sent to your browser. Account records are protected so each person can only see their own. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you.

9. Children

Retailor isn't meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Retailor changes. We'll change the date at the top, and if a change is significant, we'll tell you by email or in the app.
